About Materia FM

Materia FM exists to celebrate the legacy of Final Fantasy music. We believe that Nobuo Uematsu's compositions — along with the works of Yoko Shimomura, Masashi Hamauzu, and many other talented composers — deserve a dedicated space on the internet where fans can stream them freely, discover new arrangements, and connect with others who share the same passion.

Our mission is threefold:

• Curate: Maintain a 24/7 radio experience built around carefully curated Final Fantasy music, keeping these beloved compositions accessible to anyone, anywhere.
• Discover: Connect listeners with playlists organized by Final Fantasy universe — from the cyberpunk streets of Midgar to the ancient mythology of Eorzea.
• Community: Grow a welcoming space for Final Fantasy music enthusiasts to share recommendations, discuss arrangements, and celebrate the art of video game composition.

We see Materia FM as more than a radio — it is a living tribute to the music that has accompanied generations of players. As the Final Fantasy franchise continues to grow, so does its musical legacy. Our goal is to stay alongside it.

• Curated Final Fantasy music streaming, always on
• Video game soundtrack discovery, by universe and mood
• Fan community building, sharing, and discussion
• Editorial content about composers, arrangements, and the stories behind the music
• A lightweight, accessible listening experience — no app, no subscription, no ads

Our long-term goal is to build one of the most complete fan-curated listening experiences for Final Fantasy music, combining live radio, curated playlists, community features, and editorial content.

Final Fantasy music is not just background audio — it is a core pillar of the franchise's identity. Nobuo Uematsu helped transform video game music from functional sound into an art form capable of genuine emotion. The soundtracks of Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy XVI remain deeply memorable to players around the world.

While Final Fantasy music could be found across streaming services, YouTube channels, and fan communities, there was no single place focused on providing a simple, always-on listening experience dedicated entirely to it.

Materia FM was built to fill that gap. We are an always-on tribute to the sound that defined a genre. No app required. No subscription. No ads. Just nostalgia, discovery, and community.

Like many Final Fantasy fans, I found myself returning to these soundtracks again and again — while working, travelling, studying, or simply revisiting memories from past adventures.

Materia FM started with a simple idea: create the kind of radio station I always wished existed.

A place where Final Fantasy music could play continuously, without playlists to manage, algorithms to fight, or subscriptions to pay for.

Just press play and enjoy the journey.

Materia FM is powered by a passionate community of Final Fantasy music lovers. On our Discord server, fans can already share suggestions, discuss favorite tracks, and help shape the future of Materia FM.

Over time, the goal is to introduce listening events, composer spotlights, and community-driven playlist curation. Early feedback has already helped refine playlists for several Final Fantasy universes, and we continue to welcome new ideas.

Materia FM was founded by Yohann Larbi, a lifelong Final Fantasy fan and web developer passionate about music, technology, and community-driven projects.

The project combines a love for Final Fantasy soundtracks with the desire to create a lightweight, accessible, and always-on listening experience.

Building Materia FM is not just a side project — it is a commitment to celebrating a cultural legacy. Every playlist curation, every piece of editorial content, and every community interaction serves that mission.

The project is open to feedback, ideas, playlist suggestions, and community contributions. Improvements, new playlist features, and community tools are always welcome.
